Library Ladders

Libraries contain huge stock of books, periodicals and information that needs to be accessed by a great number of its members. To be able to reach items efficiently, a library ladder is a must. Library ladder help retrieve books, periodicals and magazines that would otherwise be out of reach.

Traditionally, library ladders were straight, portable ladders that could be kept and moved anywhere. Simple hook ladders were also an option for better grip.

Even stepladders were common in libraries. But nowadays, special rolling track library ladders are available. Rolling track library ladders have a steel rod installed above the library racks. The grab bars at the top of the rung are inserted into steel rods. Thus, the ladder moves along the rod and the shelves without toppling over.

At the bottom of the ladder, wheels are fixed to move the ladder from one place to another smoothly. Double track rolling library ladders are available for very narrow aisles. They have swivel casters at the bottom of the ladder to rotate its direction.

Generally, these rolling track library ladders come in wood. They tend to have a broad bottom step for safety. They can be custom made as per your requirements.

Tracks can be ordered in variety of styles and colors, as can the wheels. One can select from a number of wood types or metals such as steel, fiberglass or aluminum. For libraries having shorter bookshelves and cabinets, freestanding ladders are used. They come with a standing platform and special handrails for support.

Whatever the ladder chosen for the library, it should not disturb the library atmosphere and should be noiseless and easy to maneuver. Library ladders could be ordered from manufacturers of rolling track ladders, hardware stores, building suppliers or on the Internet..

Shopping for a swimming pool

When the summer rolls around and the air heats up, we all dream of having pools in our own backyard. However, before shopping for pools, it is important to be aware of safety issues. Make sure you are willing to take on the responsibility before you buy.

Do you have a lot of kids in your neighborhood? Pools are magnets for children! Be aware that if the pool is on your property, you may be liable for any accident that may occur. For safety reasons, the American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend installing pools until your children are at least 5 years old. While they are certainly a lot of fun, pools can also be hazardous if the owners don't take proper precautions.

Fences should be placed around pools to prevent accidental falls as well as uninvited guests.

The fences should be at least 4 feet high and gated. Ideally, there should be latches and locks for when the pools are not in use. Ladders from above-ground pools should be removed when...

How To Measure and Install Blinds like a Pro

How do I measure for Blinds to ensure that they fit great?

Its easy if you will follow a few general guidelines, take your time, and use a quality 1" wide Tape measure.
We build to the nearest 1/8" so the better you measure, the better your blinds will look.

Inside Window Case Mounts (Inside Mount)
1. Measure the width inside the window opening in 3 locations - at the top, middle and bottom. The top measurement is critical because the headrail must fit and you will want the Valance to fully cover the mounting brackets! Record the actual dimension of the shortest width to the nearest one eighth of an inch.
Tip... If the window doesn't taper in more than 3/8", you can simply provide the width where you intend to mount the support brackets.

2. Measure the height inside the window opening at left, right and center. Record the actual dimension of the longest height to the nearest one eighth of an inch.

The Journey Home, Sydney Final Journal 4

(ContentDesk) September 21, 2005 -- This is it for the journals, so thanks for hanging in there. We leave tomorrow, Tuesday here, to start our journey home. Much to Dave's annoyance, I insist on stopping over for one night in LA, so we won't get back until Wednesday, U.S. time. By the way, stopping is the best in order to stand upright for 24 hours before the last leg.Our brother, Eddie Oppenheimer, from Mobile, blew into town right on schedule, on the 13th.

Considering that he came in from Hong Kong, he was in great shape. Before napping, he wanted to go to Balmoral beach and run! We never knew that Eddie had taken up running and we were very impressed. He looks great, quite amazing, actually. His room was at the bottom of the Japanese steps which had me worried for weeks. But, he learned to navigate them post haste, even schlepping down one suitcase (the rest were left on level one)! Through circumstance, we had quite a social whirl while Ed was here.

More on this later...
